This morning, as I was waiting for the train to arrive, I saw a bird sitting on a fence near me.It seemed to be looking at me. Or maybe i was just imagining. And then it flew, not too far away, so that i could still see it was scratching the ground from some grains of food. And then it flew away again, this time out of my sight.
As I saw this episode happening, it just made me think about how we, as human beings live our lives, and how are we different than these little creatures.
The bird wakes up, goes around, grabs some food, not too much, just what’s needed to make it through the day, and then go fly a bit around, then go to sleep again.
One of the most important differences between us humans and the birds is the story we tell to ourselves about what is happening around, but also the story of what was, and what could be happening. I bet that when birds look at humans, they only see some shapes/bunch of colors, moving around. And that’s it. Nothing more, nothing less.
My point with all this is that most of the stuff happening in our daily lives does not matter, because it is just a bunch of stories going on, concerns that most of them will not turn to be true. Same is true for this US presidential elections.
People around me seem to be very concerned about what will happen next, but do birds elect presidents? Are birds concerned if the next leadership will lead them astray? No, because things just happen either way.
This will not be a problem for you, reader. I can guarantee that. “Foreign policy changes” or ” influences on global trade” or other stuff might have an influence on the prices of the products you consume daily, but at the same time, since things are so interconnected, you will figure it out, because parallel to this, advances in technology make our lifestyle way more enjoyable day by day. In parallel, your life is getting better. My intention is not to oversimplify this matter, but merely to make a point, that no matter how complex the story, it is still….a story.
So, at the end of the day, each of us will figure it out, as we always did, no matter who was president or who was or was not part of EU.
“Life is so simple: We walk; we sit; we lie horizontal. That’s about it. Everything else is a story about what’s going on while we’re doing it.”
Let the story be just a story. Because it doesn’t make any difference after all.
