Lurking as defined by the urban dictionary is “the act of being with a group of people but not saying much”.

This, in my opinion, is a very common and underrated practice in DAOs. You can lurk in almost any DAOs discord conversations to see if you like the vibe, which is a snapshot into the culture of that org.

If you like what you see, you start contributing. If you don’t you just sign off. No strings attached.

How cool would it be to have something similar for companies? Something like getting access to #general channel in slack.

*I know there is a standard probation period in place, but that feels very formalized. And you have to get the job to get a sneak peek into the company.
